وتحت هراسة التغريب يبدو أن كل شئ قد تم تدميره وتسويته وسحقه بالفعل، لكن في كل مكان، في الوقت ذاته، يكون كل ما هنالك في كثير من الأحيان أن تضاريس الأرض مشقوقة، فهي تقاوم أحياناً وهى متأهبة لإعادة تكوين أديمها.
والواقع أن استبعاد المكاسب المادية والرمزية "للتحديث"، وهى وفيرة دائماً، يمكن ويجب أن يبتكر حلولاً جديدة من أجل البقاء كمكان وكإنسانية. وهذه التطلعات المغايرة تستكشف نفسها من خلال الارتجال والتلفيق. ويمكنها أن تنتج مسوخاً، أو أن تستردها الآلة، لكنها كذلك تغذى الأمل في ألا يكون حصار الآلة نهاية العالم بل فجر يجث جديد عن الإنسانية التعددية.
