عملاً بقول الله تعالى "ذلك ومن يعظم شعائر الله فإنها من تقوى القلوب" وغيرها من الآيات المشابهة لها يأتي كتاب "الأطروحة الحسينية" للمرجع الديني الحاج السيد علاء الدين الموسوي الغريفي ليؤكد على أن "الشعائر الحسنية هي وسيلة إعلامية مهمة لبث ونشر مبادىء الثورة الحسينية، كونها ممارسة عريقة تحث على المواساة والحزن لمظلومية أهل البيت عليهم السلام (...) وبما تتضمن من غايات وأهداف نبيلة أخرى كنشر فضائلهم وبيان تأريخهم الناصع وعلومهم المتنوعة ، (...) وغيرها من الأهداف الكثيرة لهذه الممارسة العظيمة".
وبما أن الشعائر أصبحت اليوم تمثل أحد الأعمدة التي يرتكز عليها المذهب الإمامي، ولأنها العنصر الجامعة والموحد بين أبناء المذهب على اختلاف جنسياتهم وقومياتهم، يجمع السيد محمد علي الموسوي البحراني الغريفي في هذا الكتاب كل ما يخص المدرسة العقائدية عموماً والثورة الحسينية والشعائر العاشورائية خصوصاً من استفتاءات بآرائه وفتاواه بعد طرحها عليه، فجاء هذا الكتاب "الأطروحة الحسينية" جامعاً نافعاً على صيغة (سؤال وجواب) يرد فيها الإمام على أسئلة الناس، في أمور دنيوية وأخروية توضح الحكم الشرعي الصحيح. ولأهمية هذه الإستفتاءات ورد في مقدمة العمل الإشارة بأنه "لا بأس بالعمل بما هو مدوّن في مجموعة الإستفتاءات حول الشعائر الحسينية الشريفة المسمى بـ (الأطروحة الحسينية في استفتاءات وردت وإجابات تلت ولائية أبوية)، بل هو مأجور ومثاب عليه إن شاء تعالى – علاء الدين الموسوي".
