كانت اللغة الفرنسية في الجزائر ضريبة الإستعمار ولكنها كانت في الوقت نفسه الوسيلة التي أعلن بها الأديب خصومته له ونقمته عليه.
يقدّم الكتاب الدلائل المستمدّة من مئات الوثائق والمصادر والمراجع، على ترابط الأدب مع الواقع وتحوّله في المراحل المصيرية إلى سلاح نضالي في وجه السجن والرصاص والإستبداد والإستغلال.
كان من أبطال ملحمة ثورة الجزائرية وشهدائها عدد من حَمَلَةِ الأقلام وروّاد الأدب الجزائري، الشعري منه والنثري، الفصيح والشعبي من جهة، والفرنسيّ التعبير من جهة أخرى، ما يشكّل بمجمله مصدراً أساسياً من مصادر البحث في الثورة الجزائرية.
وهذا الكتاب محاولة جديدة لتدوين ملامح هذه الثورة عبر سنواتها المشرقة بالجهاد والإستشهاد، وبالعناء المستميت للحفاظ على الأرض والهوية والتراث.
