لقد احتوى منهاج التربية الإسلامية، على علوم شرعية هي من أشرف العلوم؛ لأنها تبحث في كتاب الله سبحانه وتعالى، وسنة نبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وآله وسلم، دراسة وفهماً وتحليلاً وإستخلاصاً للعبر والحكم والاحكام الشرعية الإعتيادية والعملية.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن الإنسان محكوم بإعتقاده وسلوكه بما شرع الله سبحانه وتعالى وسيحاسب عليه يوم القيامة، لذلك فإن تعلم علوم الشريعة واجب على كل مسلم ومسلمة، بالقدر الذي يميز به بين الحلال والحرام وما يصح وما لا يصح في الإعتقاد والسلوك، أما العلوم لاشرعية بمجملها فهي فرض كفاية، قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: [طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم]... (ابن ماجة: 224).
لقد رغّب النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم في تعلم العلوم الشرعية وتعليمها، فقال صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: [خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه].. (البخاري: 4739)، فكان صلى الله عليه وسلم المعلم الأول لأصحابه وللأمة الإسلامية جميعها.
إن التربية الإسلامية تتضمن مبادئ وتوجيهات ترشد المربي وتساعده على أداء دوره على أكمل وجه، فالقرآن الكريم يحترم عقل الإنسان ويدعو إلى تقديم الأدلة والبراهين المقنعة، وقد راعى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم الفروق الفردية واستخدم أساليب متنوعة في تعليم وتربية أصحابه، فخاطب الناس بقدر عقولهم.
