… وأنا صغير بحثت كثيراً ولازلت أبحث عن كتاب لتعليم العود بشكل علمي مفيد، فلم أجد الكتاب الذي يجعلني عازفاً ماهراً أسوة بعازفي الكمان والبيانو و... في العالم الغربي، وإنما وجدت بعض الكتب في تركيا والعراق ومصر و.. درستها جميعاً فلم توصلني الى منتصف الطريق.. فماذا أفعل؟.. وهنا لجأت مضطراً الى الكتب الأجنبية لتعليم الآلات المشابهة لآلة العود كالكيتار والمندولين، ومن مطالعاتي للكتب العربية المبسّطة وللكتب الأجنبية المنوطة بشكل علمي صحيح ومدروس، ومن خلال دراساتي الخاصة لآلة العود سنين طويلة مليئة بالبحث والاستقصاء، قررت أن أضع كتابي هذا بين يدي أي طالب يود دراسة العزف على العود بشكل صحيح ومتقن... ووضعت أول حرف فيه منذ خمسة عشر عاماً... وآخر حرف كان في مقدمتي هذه عام 1976م، وذلك بعد أن قمت بجولات عديدة الى مصر والى تركيا والى معظم البلدان العربية والأجنبية، واتصلت بأساتذة هذه الآلة والآلات المشابهة لها وعقدت معهم ندوات واجتماعات عديدة، ومناقشات كثيرة حول أصول تدريس العود... حتى خرجت أخيراً بنتيجة حسنة... هذه النتيجة هي بين أيديكم:"كتاب تعليم العود" الذي هو أول كتاب من نوعه يدخل المكتبة العربية ليقدم الى طلابها في أنحاء العالم كافة، خدمات جلّى في تعليم العزف على العود...
