يضم الكتاب القسم الثالث من ديوان أبي نواس الحسن بن هاني الحكمي وفيه الحد الثالث من رواية حمزة الأصفهاني، ويتألف هذا الحد من باب واحد: الخمريات. وبهذا تم قصائد شعر أبي نواس التي كانت سبباً في شهرته. ولما كان باب الخمريات من أكبر أبواب الديوان، فقد غطى هذا الباب المجلدين الثاني والثالث من هذه السلسلة المعنونة "ديوان أبي نواس الحسن بن هاني الحكمي".
وبين يدينا المجلد الثالث من الديوان، وفيه كما أسلفنا القسم الأخير من الديوان والمتعلق بالخمريات، وكما هو الحال في بقية الأجزاء فإن تحقيق النص هنا قد اعتمد فيه على رواية حمزة الأصفهاني، فإن وجدت في الروايات الأخرى قصيدة لأبي نواس بالإضافة إلى رواية حمزة تم مقابلت نصها أيضاً. هذه الروايات الأخرى أولاها لأبي بكر الصولي، والثانية يرجح أن تنتسب إلى إبراهيم بن أحمد الطبري توزون، ثم أخبار أبي نواس لأبي هفان. فإن وجدت قصيدة في تلك الروايات الأخرى فقد أشير إليها بعد ذكر البحر الشعري رموز معينة.
وقد أدرجت القصائد التي وردت بروايتي الصولي وتوزون زيادة على رواية حمزة في فصلين إضافيين في نهاية هذا الجزء. وتتضمن مخطوطات الصولي شروحاً تتباين كثيراً فيما بينها في النص والحاشية. وقد أوردنا هذه الشروح في منتخبات مع بيان المخطوطة التي أخذت عنها (صلب A، حاشية P وهكذا) بين قوسين عقب الأبيات. وهكذا فقد أضيفت أجزاء من الشروح النادرة جداً في مخطوطات توزون فإن كانت الشروح تتعلق بقراءات لم ترد في النص وإنما في هامش الاختلافات.
