"هاروت وماروت يعلمان السحر للناس" مبنية على المعاناة التي يمر فيها حامد مصطفى وعائلته نتيجة تعرضهم للسحر. ما حدث له ولهم هو واقع قد حدث فعلاً والمساعدة التي تلقاها من قوى فوق الطبيعة وهزم بها الشياطين قد أتته فعلاً. أما الأحداث التي رافقت عملية السحر من شكوك واتهامات للزوجة وغيرها وما رافق هذه الشكوك والإتهامات فهي كلها من عالم الخيال.
قصة هاروت وماروت تُحكى من وجهة نظر "الشخصية الأولى" (أنا). فوجهة النظر (أنا) في هذه القصة هي الأنسب لقصة تجري فيها بعض أحداث قد لا يمكن تفسيرها، وأيضاً الـ (أنا) هي الأنسب لتفشي السحر في مجتمعنا، فالقارىء عندما يقرأ (أنا) فهو يقرأ قصته وبذلك يندمج مع الأحداث ويتفاعل معها.
