في الكتاب قصائد رثاء غنية بمقوماتها الفنية والجمالية، من حيث التنويع في القوافي ومن حيث استخدام الشاعر الشكل المقطوعي أو التوشيحي في القصيدة، والإهتمام بالإيقاع الداخلي الفني وتماسك النصوص، والصور الشعرية، حيث نجح الشاعر في استعادة صور قديمة للأهل والجيران والأصدقاء في لبنان وبالإضافة إليها بحيث تبدو صورة الذات الشاعرة متصالحة مع سياقها ومنسجمة في أدائها، كما أن صوره الشعرية هي في الغالب صور واقعية، حسية، يغترفها من الحياة بعيداُ عن الرمز والتجريد.
من مرثياته نقرأ له قصيدة بعنوان (أنا موتي) يقول فيها: حوّم الردى ومريض على الفراش يتقلب ، تعب الفراش من ثقله وتعب الأقرب ، وتململ الفراش يريد يهرب من آهاته ، صراخ أوجاعه طنين في الأوصال يضربُ ، هذا شأن كل مريضٍ في فراش الردى ، وحال منازع الموت نصب ولقب (...)".
