ولدت في مدينة الموصل في شمال العراق وفيها أتمت دراسها الثانوية، درست القانون في جامعة بغداد والصحافة في جامعة لايبزك وفيها حصلت أيضا على درجة الدكتوراه عن أطروحتها "اتجاهات عالمية في تطور وسائل الإعلام" عام 1986 درست الرسم في معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد عام 1967 والموسيقى عام 1969 في نفس المعهد.
عملت بين 1961 و1977 في الصحافة العراقية ونشرت مقالاتها المدافعة عن حقوق النساء في مختلف الصحف العراقية.
ترجم عدد من نصوصها إلى: الانكليزية والألمانية والإسبانية والفارسية والمالايالامي، وهي احدى اللغات الهندية
Book Description
بحثاً عن جزيرة غير مأهولة يبدأ السندباد الإبن رحلته مع رفيقيه فتكون أول استراحة لهم في "أضاليا"، الجزيرة التي تستقبلهم بالترحاب، ويدل كل شيء فيها على الرفاه، لكن السندباد الذي غاب عن صحبه بسبب المرض والذي اكتشف قبل ذلك الشبه الشديد للسكان بكتشف أن صحبه قد اكتسبوا نفس ملامح الآخرين خلال فترة غيابه، فيتخذ قراره بمغادرة الجزيرة. وهكذا يتابع الرحلة مع رفيقيه، ليشهدوا بلداناً غريبة ليس فيها ما كانوا يبحثون عنهن. فبعد أن نجوا من "أضاليا" مما اعتبروه مرضاً وشهدوا في "غافث" إخفاق اللغة سيتعرفون في "كرمة"، المدينة المغلقة التي لا تحب الطيور الغريبة، على مجتمع يخضع كل شيء فيه للرقابة والتخطيط، ليس فقد القادمون إلى المدينة والخارجون منها ولكن ايضاً طيورها ونباتاتها، مدينة أحكمت أغلاق أبوابها أمام كل طارىء أو جديد. وفي "مكنانة" التي أقيمت على مساحة صغيرة من الأرض، على مدينة تتخذ الشوارع فيها شكل المصاعد، سيتنزهون في جزيرة "ودنة" ويعرفون من الرجل الأخير فيها لماذا هجرها أهلها.
لم يعثر السندباد وصحبه على الجزيرة التي كانوا يحلمون بها، جزيرة صالحة للعيش فيها، لم يسبقهم إليها إنسان، فقرروا العودة إلى البصرة، يحلمون معهم قصصاً كثيرة عما شاهدوه في رحلتهم سيرويها السندباد ليلة بعد أخرى.
