يروي التاريخ الروماني عن الأباطرة المنحرفين جنسياً، ويذكر أسماء لرجال مشهورين عرفوا بالفتح والغزو والجبروت، ومع ذلك كانوا منحرفين جنسياً.
أما الثورة الجنسية فلها فضل إعادة النظر في كثير من القيم وإلقاء المزيد من الأضواء على العديد من المشاكل الجنسية، ومن ذلك: التخنث، الخنوثة، حب الأثر، فرط الجنسية، الليزبيانية، التشبه بالجنس الآخر، الإستعراء، التطلع الجنسي، تعشق الصغار، السادية، المازوخية، اللواطية، البغاء، البضعية الجنسية، تعشق الموتى، وتعشق الحيوانات.
وقد أدى الإختلاط بين مختلف المجتمعات، والإندماج الذي يقارب بين الطبقات، والتلافح الحضاري بين الشعوب إلى إهتزاز الكثير من ا لقيم، حيث لم يعد مستهنجاً ما كان مسهجناً من قبل.
أما الإنحرافات الجنسية المقبولة في بعض المجتمعات والمرفوضة في مجتمعات أخرى، فلا يمكن النظر إليها إلا كحالة باتولوجية، لأنها في نهاية الأمر عمل فيزيولوجي محوّل عن هدفه الطبيعي، خاصة وإن صاحب السلوك الجنسي المضطرب يعرف أن ما يأتيه ليس سوياً، ومع ذلك فهو يصر عليه ويداوم على فعلته.
وفي الشرق أصبح الإنحراف الجنسي واقعة محرجة بدرجة كبيرة، تتطلب إجراء بعض التنظيمات بعد أن أصبحت الدول الغربية مثل، السويد والدانمارك والنورفيج تتيح عقد الزواج المدني بين أفراد الجنس الواحد.
أما عمليات التحول الجنسي التي يقوم بها الأطباء من ذكر إلى أنثى وبالعكس، فهي تمس بالقيم البشرية والدينية والأخلاقية والعائلية وبكل مبادئ علم النفس والإجتماع والتربية، إذ أنها تلغي دور الأم ودور الأب، وخاصة بعد تلقيح الذكر (المتحول جنسياً من أنثى إلى ذكر) ليصبح أمّاً حاملاً بطفلها ومظهره الخارجي ذكوري.
ومن هنا، كان لا بد من إلقاء الضوء على الإنحرافات الجنسية، والتطرق إلى أنواعها وأسبابها والطرق العلاجية لعلنا نستطيع المساهمة ولو بجزء بسيط الحد من هذه الآفة البشرية، متأثرين بمقولة "إبراهام لينكولن": "كل ما يلزم ليتفوق الشّر هو ألاّ يفعل الرجال الصالحون شيئاً".
