ولد جورج أوشاوا في اليابان ونشر نظام الماكروبيوتيك الذي شفاه من داء السل الرئوي قبل أن يبلغ العشرين من عمره.
نجح أوشاوا في نشر الماكروبيوتيك في العالم أجمع بمساعدة زوجته وتلامذته الذين نذكر منهم الرواد ميتشيو كوشي وإيهارا.
توفي في 23 أبريل 1966.

يعرض هذا الكتاب فكرة الفلسفة الشرقية المرتكزة أساساً على الفلسفة الهندية واليابانية والصينية، وقد شرح لنا المؤلف "جورج أوشاوا" أسس هذه الفلسفة التي ترتكز على المبدأ الوحيد أو المبدأ الفريد، مقدماً لنا في الوقت نفسه الخطوط العريضة لمنهجه الخاص والمميز مبيناً أوجه التشابه بين النظم الفلسفية الشرقية كافة، ومدى إختلافها مع الفلسفة الغربية المتأثرة بشكل خفي بالمفاهيم الأفلاطونية والأرسطوية والمسيحية، على عكس فلسفة الشرق التي تشترك في مبادئها مع معطيات العلم الحديث وتنسجم معها إنسجاماً تاماً.
لقد أضاء "جورج أوشاوا" من جديد على فلسفة الشرق الأقصى في عصر إنشغال العالم بحضارة وعلوم الغرب، فقلائل هم من يهتمون بالفلسفة والعلوم القديمة التي ما زالت موجودة، كما يؤكد "أوشاوا" الذي يسعى من وراء هذا الكتاب إلى الحقائق والوصول إلى معرفة صحيحة وواقعية لفلسفة المبدأ الفريد.
لن يحتاج القارئ في كتابنا هذا، لأن يكون ملماً بالأمور الفلسفية كي يفهم الأفكار والشروحات التي قدمها المؤلف، بل إنه سيجد نفسه أمام كتاب من نوع آخر، بعيد عن التعقيدات والصعوبات التي يصادفها لفهم أغلب الكتب الفلسفية الأخرى.
