كثيراً ما ننخدع حينما نأخذ كلمة" صوفي" بصيغة الفرد. فهو يحضر داخل تجربته بصعيد التعدد والاختلاف. ويحكي عنها بالصيغة ذاتها: فهو العارف تارة والمحب والعاشق تارة أخرى، والصامت المنصت لخطاب الآخر تارة ثالثة... وهو الواصل مرة والمغترب مرة أخرى... الحائر مرة، والساكن مرة أخرى.. التصوف مقامات، لكل مقام حل يلبسه الصوفي ويعايش خفاياه وأسراره. لا يريد الصوفي أن يثبت على حال معين لأنه يرغب في أن يكون صورة جامعة لكل الأحوال. لكنه يدرك تمام الإدراك أنه محكوم بحدود تناهية: فمجوده مشروط على الزمان والمكان والجسد واللغة، وهو لا يدرك إلا ما تسمح به هذه الشروط. والصوفي، وهو يعيش تناهيه وتحمله، ظل دائماً يريد خلق سبل نحو المطلق والامتناهي. اختار الإغتراب خارج المكان الاجتماعي، غير أنه لم يجد سوى المكان الطبيعي امامه. اختار العشق والحب والتيه في سبيل مبتغاه(الاتصال بأصوله المطلقة)، لكن تجربته في الحب قادته في بعض محطاتها إلى عسق الألم والموت وتدمير الذات. وهو حينما اختار أن يكون منصتاً للغه التي تناديه وتخاطبه باسم القدسي والمطلق، انتهى به الأمر إلى فقدان قدرته على الكلام البشري واللجوء لغات أخرى كلها رموز وإشارات دفع أحياناً حياته ثمنناً لها. لكنه، من ناحية أخرى ، حينما اختار الكلام البشري والحكي عن تجربته في الاغتراب والعشق، وجد نفسه اسير حكاياته، وعبرها أسير صوت الحكاية وكل حكاية.. ذاك هو الصوت الشهرزادي داخل الثقافة الإسلامية. وتلك هي محنته. يحاول ان ينفلت من حدود تناهيه وأن يخلق لذاته لغة تتجاوز كل الحدود. لكنه لم يستطع أن يحقق مبتغاه وظل محكوماً بشروط زمانيته وتغيراته. داخل هذا "المابين" تتحد أبعاد التجربة الصوفية التي حاولنا رصدها في الدراسات المتضمنة داخل هذا الكتاب...
