هذا كتابٌ لطيفٌ من تصانيف العلاّمة المَقْريْزيّ، وقد سماهُ "الضوء السَّاري لمعرفة خبر تميم الدَّاري" وهو حديث الجسَّاسة الذي أورده الإمام مُسلم في "صحيحه" (2942) وغيره من مُصنفي المسانيد والسُّنن، وأهل السِّيَر.
بدأ المؤلف كتابه بمقدمة مقتضبة في بيان أصل البشر، وحدوث الطُّوفان، فكان الأب الثاني للبشر بعد آدم هو نوح - عليهما السَّلام - وذَكَرَ أنّ أصْل البشرية من نَسْلِ أولادِه الثلاثة: حَام وسَام ويَافث، وأنّ أصلَ العَرَبِ من سَام، وأخذ في ذكر أصول العرب وطبقاتها من عاربة، ومستعربة، وشَعْب، وقَبِيْلة، وعَمارة، وبَطْن، وفخْذ، وفَصِيْلَة، وأحال من أراد البيان الشافي في ذلك إلى كتابيه "الخبر عن البَشَر"، و"عِقْد جَواهر الأسْفاط في أخبار مدينة الفُسْطاط".
ثم أفرد الكلام على نسب يَعْرُب بن قَحْطان الذي تشعَّبت منه بُطون حِمْيَر وكَهْلان أبناء سبأ بن يشجُب بن يَعْرُب، وأخذ في تعداد بُطون حِمْيَر، ثُمَّ بُطون كَهْلان: كهمدان، والأزد، وخثعم، وبجيلة وغيرهم، ليصل إلى ذكر مُرّة بن أُدَد إخوة طيِّئ، ومذحِج، والأشعريّين، لأنهم أصل لخْم، كي ينتهي إلى بني الدَّار وهو الدَّار بن هانئ بن حبيب بن نُمارة بن لَخْم الذين هُم رَهْط تَمِيْم بن أوْس بن خارجة بن سُواد بن جذيْمَة بن ذرّاع بن عدي بن الدَّار بن هانئ، وبذلك أتمّ نسبَ تمِيْم الدَّاري - رضي الله عنه - راوي حديث الجَسَّاسة، ثُمَّ ساق الحديث بتمامه من طويق الإمام مُسلم.
