"لما قدم فصل الربيع في طلائعه وجنوده، وسحَبَ وشْيَ مطارفِهِ وبرودِهِ، وزهرت الأرض بأزهارهِ، وانتشرتْ نشْرَها بانتشاره، ...، فأول من أقبل يختالُ في ردائه ويَميس، كالطليعة المُبَشِّرِ والمُقدَّمِ الرئيس، التوتُ الصادق الحلاوة، المتدرجُ بالطَّلاوة، فتمايل في حلتهِ السندسية، وتوشح بعقوده اللؤلؤية ... فبينا هو يجول في ميدان تيهه ومرحه، ويختال في ملابس سروره وفرحه، إذ هجم عليه عسكرُ المشمش متدرعاً دروعه الصُّفْر، ناشراً راياتِه الخضر، مثقلةً منه الغصون بما حملت من عقوده، متطلعة منه الطلائع بين أعلامه وبنوده:
كأنه حين يبدو في الغصون ضُحًى بنادقُ الرمي قد صيغت من الذهبِ وبالنجوم إذا انْقَـضَّتْ تُـشبِّهُهُ إذا بدا سـاقِـطاً من شدة اللهبِ
فصاح عليه المشمش صيحةً أُرعبت بها جنوده، وانتثرت عقوده، ومزقت بنوده...".
ومن الجدير بالذكر أن هذا الكتاب هو الكتاب العاشر من سلسلة آفاق الثقافة والتراث، وهو من جمع وتحقيق: الدكتور ركان توفيق الصفدي، المولود في محافظة السويداء، وبذلك يكون قد اشترك مع الشاعر في مكان الولادة، والدكتور ركان متخصص في الأدب، وحائز على الجائزة الأولى في الشعر في (مسابقة د. سعاد الصباح بالكويت سنة 1988م، والجائزة الأولى في الشعر في (مسابقة المزرعة في سورية سنة 2000م، ومن أعماله المطبوعة: كتاب الفن القصصي في النثر العربي حتى مطلع القرن الخامس، وكتاب ابن الرومي الشاعر المجدد، وكتاب أعلام جبل حوران في العصور الإسلامية، وله خمس مجموعات شعرية مطبوعة.
