يناقش هذا الكتاب تأثير الإسلامويات الذي يتراوح بين تخريب السياسة وتشويه الدين فإن الإيديولوجية الإسلاموية المناضلة في حقيقة أمرها كما يراها غيرهم هي نتاج إنساني يعبر عن منتجيه، إلا أنها تتحول لديهم إلى حقائق ربانية، ونتيجة لذلك تصبح الأيديولوجية المنتجة هي المحدد الفعلي للوعي وللسلوك. وفي ظل التعبئة الحزبية والمواجهة مع المجتمع أو الدولة أو العالم تتحول هذه الإيديولوجيا إلى بناء مغلق، وأي مدخل عليها وظيفته الأساسية تأكيد المعمار الفكري. ومسألة تحويل الدين إلى أداة في صراع المصالح يجعل الجماهير في ظل التدين الطاغي على المجتمع غير قادرة على اكتشاف طبيعة الصراع. إن توظيف الدين في صراع السياسة يجعل منه قوة مخدرة تعمي الشعب عن اكتشاف الحقيقة، بل إن الجماهير تتحول إلى قوة رادعة لمن يهدد مصالح النخب الدينية المسيَسة أو النخب السياسية الموظفة للشعار الديني، حتى لو تناقض ذلك مع مصالح المجتمع.
ولمواجهة إشكالية إستغلال الدين في الصراع السياسي في ظل واقع لا يمكن فيه تجاوز الدين، فإن الحل يكمن في فصل السياسة عن الدين، بما لا ينفي الدين، بمعنى أن يظل الدين مسألة ثقافية مرتبطة بالأفراد، وأن تمارس السياسة بإسم السياسة لا بإسم الدين، أي أن يناضل كل فرد او جماعة من أجل قيم عقلانية تهدف لتحقيق مصالح الأفراد والمجموع بأبعادها المادية والمعنوية.
