العنوان "اثنتنا عشرة عيناً على مشهد التسلط "يشير إلى مجموعة الأبحاث الاثنتى عشر والمتضمنة فى الكتاب. وتعنى العين الرؤية أو المنظور ويوحى باستعمال المنهج الوصفي لمشهد السلطة أي ظاهريات التسلط، ببساطة ووضوح وهما مقولتان منذ ديكارت حتى هوسرل. الموضوع هو "التسلط" وليس "السلطة" أى السلطة باعتبارها ذاتاً. وليس التسلط باعتباره موضوعاً. التسلط هو السطلة عندما تصبح ذاتاً. والسطلة هى التسلط عندما يتحول إلى موضوع.
وتدور كلها حول "آليات التسلط". وهو عنوان ايضاً كان مقترحاً لمجموعة الأبحاث.
وقد نجد هناك ازدواجية في بعض العناوين مما يدل على قلق فى التصورات. وهو شئ طبيعي. فما زال الفكر الشاب متأرجحاً بين العناوين الوجادنية والتصورات العقلية والموضوعات أي الأشياء ذاتها. وهى ظاهرة معروفة فى تاريخ التأليف الفلسفي. لذلك يوضع عنوان رئيسي وعنوان فرعي. الأول عام، والثانى خاص. الأول لإثارة الخيالة، والثانى لضبط العقل.
