تمتلك القصة القصيرة اليوم - التي تُعَدُّ لحظة أساسية في حياة الإنسان، أو في حياة المجتمع قدرةً خاصةً على إلتقاط أعمق التحولات في كل جوانب الحياة، وهي من أكثر الأشكال الأدبية قدرةً على صنع عالم مُكَثَّف، يعادلُ بتراثه وتعقيده العالمَ الرحب الذي تصدُر عنه تلك التجارب ثراءً وتعقّداً، ويمثل الوقوف عند المتعاليات النصية في القصة وقوفاً عند تلك العناصر المُشَكِّلَةِ للقصة؛ بإعتبارها فنّاً متخيلاً، وإن كان الإنطلاق من الواقع إلا أنه عالم متخيل يصنعه خيال المبدع، ومن هنا فدراسة مكونات هذا الخيال هو وقوف عند أدبية الأدب؛ أي: ما يجعل القصة فنّاً فارقاً عن الواقع.
والمبدع أثناء العملية الإبداعية لا ينطلق من العدم، بل يتأثر بما حوله، فتبرز في إنتاجه الإبداعي مرجعيات متعددة، وتعالقات نصية متنوعة، وتتم التعالقات النصية بقصد من المبدع أو من دون قصد، فتظهر بصور مختلفة تحكمها الدلالات الخفية والظاهرة التي تنتج نصاً جديداً بهوية جديدة.
ودراسة المتعاليات النصية هو تكريس للبحث عن سر الأدبية، وبرز هذا المصطلح نتيجة تطوير (جيرار جينيت) لمفهوم التناص، فضبط جهازها النظري والمفهومي والإجرائي في مؤلفاته: "أطراس"، و"عتبات"، و"مدخل إلى جامع النص"، التي تُظهر بحثه الدائب عن الشعرية التي تميز النص الأدبية، تلك الشعرية التي تسعى للإجابة عن سؤال مهم: ما الذي يجعل رسالة لفظية عملاً فنياً؟...
وينهض التعالي النصّي كجهاز فحص المتعاليات النصية، وأشكال تعالق النص، مع ما يثوي في ذاكرته وما يحف به من نصوص؛ بهدف رصد كلّ ما يجعله نصّاً ما، في علاقة ظاهرة أو ضمنية مع نصوص اخرى، فيكشف العلاقات التي تنشئها نصوص المدونة المختارة للدراسة، مع محيطها النصي المباشر من عناوين عامة، وفرعية، وداخلية، ومقدمات، ومداخل، وإهداءات، وتصديرات، وتذييلات، وهوامش، وحواش، ورسوم، وغير ذلك.
