سارعت بالإقتراب منه، وقلت له بسعادة وأنا أمسكُ بكفيه: حقاً!!... أنت حيّ!!... سحب كفيه من كفيَّ ونهض وهو يقول: أبحثي عني يا غيداء!!... فأنا حيّ، حيّ...
قالها وسارع بالإنصراف... بينما سارعت للنهوض من السرير للحاق به وأنا أناديه وأطلب منه الإنتظار مردده: يعرب انتظر أرجوك، انتظر...
لكن لم يرد، بل خرج وأغلق باب الغرفة، فسارعت لفتحه، لكني لم أجده، بل وجدت امرأة ترتدي فستاناً أحمر يمطر دماً، رفعت رأسي لأرى وجهها، فوجدته بدون ملامح يعلوه السواد، أفزعتني فصرخت صرخةً أيقظتني في الواقع، كنت أتصبب عرقاً وألهث... وأنا أقول بصوتٍ مسموع: - هل يعقل أن يكون يعرب حياً فعلاً!!...
