قد يبدو المال كل شيء في عالمنا المعاصر، لكنه في اللحظات الحرجة الفاصلة بين الموت والحياة يفقد سطوته المكتسبة.. في إحدى شركات البورصة حيث بؤرة الصراع المادي، تحوم شكوك المدير حول إحدى موظفاته، بأنها تقوم بتسريب أسرار الشركة المالية إلى إحدى الشركات المنافسة، فيقوم بتكليف المحقق الخاص رمزي أونال؛ لاكتشاف خبايا اللعبة، لكن دون أن يقدم له تفاصيل مهمته الحقيقية.. فالأمور أكثر تشابكاً مما تبدو عليه، خاصةً وأنّ الموظفة شابة حسناء، والمدير رجل في خريف العمر يرزح تحت ثقل سنوات من علاقة زوجية مضطربة..
ورغم أنَّ حدس المحقق الضليع يخبره بأنّ وراء الأكمة ما وراءها، لكنه يقبل المهمة ويبدأ بالاستعداد لها على الفور.. وحين يخرج في ساعات الصباح الباكرة متعقباً الشابة التي تقوم بنزهة صباحية مع كلبها، يكتشف أنَّ جهات أخرى تشاركه المهمة ذاتها؛ لأسباب أكثر خطورة.. ودون أن تمهله الأحداث وقتاً كافياً لاكتشاف ماهية الأمر، يجد نفسه في خضم أحداث دموية بعد أن تقع الشابة الحسناء ضحية هجوم مسلح تنفذه جهة مجهولة..
رواية (الجثة) عمل بوليسي متقن، مليء بالإثارة التي تقود القارئ منذ الصفحات الأولى إلى دهاليز عالم غامض، يحكمه العنف ويسوده التآمر، حيث الأرقام أكثر أهمية من حياة البشر، وتداول الأسرار يكتسب بعداً دراماتيكياً حين تتضارب المصالح.
