لقد قرر المحقق رمزي أونال، الذي عانى من جراء تغيير حياة الآخرين، عدم التدخل من الآن فصاعداً في الأمور التي ليست من واجبه، والاكتفاء بأداء المهمة الموكلة إليه فقط، دون التدخل في أي شيء آخر. بعد ظهر أحد الأيام، أوصل بسيارته ممثلة مسرحية شابة، فطلبت منه المساعدة قائلة إنها في ورطة، ولكنه قرر رفض هذا الطلب. وعندما علم أن الفتاة، التي ترجلت مسرعة من السيارة واندمجت في شوارع المدينة المظلمة، كانت ضحية جريمة قتل في تلك الليلة، فقد اقتنع أنه ليس من الصواب عدم فعل أي شيء؛ وشرع في حل جريمة القتل. ذهب أونال ليرى ماذا حدث للفتاة وكيف قُتلت، فوجد في علبة بريدها مظروفاً وبداخله بطاقة لحضور مسرحية. فقرر الذهاب إلى العرض المسرحي، ليبحث عن صاحب الدعوة. وهناك تفاجأ بأن الذي دعاها مخرج مسرحي يقول إنه لا يعرفها، وهو أيضاً وجد في علبة البريد الخاصة به تذكرة لحضور مسرحية، موجهة إليه من ممثلة مسرحية شابة. فاعتقد بأنه سيقضي ليلة رومنسية. وذهب ليعرف من هي تلك المعجبة.. ولكنه لم يجدها!
وجد المحقق رمزي أونال بانتظاره... فهل كانت الفتاة الشابة ضحية اختبار؟ أم ضحية رياضة الآيكيدو؟ أم قُتلت عن قصد؟
