ولد "وليم شكسبير" ببلدة "ستراتفورد أبون أفين" في جنوب مقاطعة واريكشير في إنجلترا ربيع عام 1564م، وبحلول صيف عام 1598 كان "شكسبير" قد أصبح أعظم كتاب المسرح الإنجليزي قاطبة، وهذه هي الفترة نفسها التي كتب فيها رائعته الخالدة "هاملت".
