قبل وفاة المطربة صباح، كانت الشائعات تتردد من وقت لآخر عن وفاتها، ثم يصدر بيان يؤكد عدم صحة هذه الشائعات، وكأن بعض مستعجلي موتها كانوا يطلقون الأخبار الكاذبة، لغرض غير مفهوم.
ذكّرتنا هذه القضية بشعر للمتنبي قال فيه: "كَم قد قُتلتُ وكم قد مُتُّ عندَكُمُ... ثمّ انتفضتُ فزالَ القبرُ والكفنُ"... "قد كانَ شاهَدَ دفني قبلَ قولِهِمِ... جماعةٌ ثمَّ ماتوا قبلَ مَن دفنوا"...
جاء هذان البيتان في القصيدة الشهيرة التي ذاع فيها البيت المعروف: "ما كلُّ ما يتمنّى المرءُ يدركُهُ... تجري الرياحُ بما لا يشتهي السفنُ".
