أصبح كتاب أساسيات الاستثمار، الذي هو بين يديك، حقيقة واقعة، ولعل أهم ما يميزه، أنه وإن كان قد اهتم بأساسيات الاستثمار كما عرفها الإدارة المالية في مشارق الأرض ومغاربها، إلا أنه لم يتجاهل ما يجري في الأسواق العربية حيث وجدت لها مكان كلما سنحت الفرصة، أما الكتاب ذاته فيتضمن ستة أبواب: الباب الأول ويعرض لأدوات الاستثمار المباشرة المتملثة في الأسهم والسندات، وأدوات الاستثمار غير المباشرة المتمثلة في وحدات أو وثائق صناديق الاستثمار، وفي الباب الثاني كان الموعد مع الأسواق التي تتداول فيها تلك الأدوات، من حيث التنظيم والإدارة، وقواعد وإجراء التعامل، وكيفية قياس مستوى واتجاه حركة أسعار الأوراق المالية المتداولة في السوق، وبالانتهاء من تناول أدوات الاستثمار والأسواق التي تتداول فيها، يصبح من الضروري التعرض لسبل تحليل الأوراق المالية، وهو ما خصص له الباب الثالث الذي يعني بالتحليل الفني.
ومن الطبيعي أن يأتي بعد تحليل الأوراق المالية، أسس تقييم الاستثمار في تلك الأوراق، والذي تم تغطيته في الباب الرابع، الذي يلقي الضوء على محددات القيمة السوقية للورقة المالية، ونظرية المحفظة، بينما تناولت محتويات الباب الخامس تقييم واستراتيجيات الاستثمار في السندات، وهي الورقة المالية التي تأتي في المرتبة الثانية بعد الأسهم العادية في أسواقنا العربية، ويختتم الكتاب كله بالباب السادس الذي يتناول فرص استثمارية أخرى، أي فرص للمضاربة من خلال عقود المشتقات سواء عقود الخيارات أو العقود الآجلة والعقود المستقبلية، وقد أضيف العديد من الموضوعات في الطبعة الرابعة، وتمت مراعاة الإشارة في أسواق العالم العربي بصفة عامة، ومصر على وجه الخصوص.
