فلسطينيي القرية... مأساة وحنين إلى البيوت التي ولدوا بها، أو البيوت التي تربوا على ذكراها من خلال القصص التي رواها الآباء والأجداد، وما يواسيهم صور لبيوتهم القديمة. تلك كانت رغبتهم الملحة تقدموا بها إلى امتياز ذياب فكانت الفكرة التي انبثت ذلك الكتاب. وكان مشروع تصدير جميع البيوت المتبقية من القرى المدمرة أو آثارها من سلاسل وآبار وأشجار والبحث عن ذكريات الأهالي الأصليين لأنهم كانوا لا يمتلكون إلا الأرض والبيت وكان المستحيل الاحتفاظ بهما في الهجرة. وقد تحقق جزء من هذا المشروع المتمثل بتصوير أربعين قرية من قرى منطقة القدس المدمرة أو المهجرة عام 1948.
وهي تمثل عينة بسيطة لزهاء 400 قرية فلسطينية شطبت من الخارطة في تلك السنة المروعة. وتحدث اللاجئون عن قصة الرحيل التي يذكرون عذابها. فكان أن أرفقت. الصور تلك، بهذه القصص مما أثر الكتاب، وأعطى له أبعاداً مستقبلية وذلك في مساهمة في توثيق وتصوير المدن الفلسطينية بدءاً بمدينة يافا العربية. أما بالنسبة لكتاب "حكاية قرية" فهو يحكي حكاية قرى فلسطينية مدمرة عام 1948 في منطقة القدس من خلال الصورة والحديث الذي جاء بمثابة سرو تاريخي موثق وقد اعتمد في ذلك على أربعة مصادر مختلفة: 1-مقابلة أهالي القرى عام 1987م 2-الأبحاث الميدانية المصورة والتي تمت أساساً في عام 1986. 3-المعلومات الواردة حول القرى المشتركة في كل من الموسوعة الفلسطينية وبلادنا فلسطين للأستاذ مصطفى مراد دباغ، 4-اعتماد بعض المراجع التاريخية المنشورة باللغة الإنكليزية والتي تم إيراد أسمائها في نهاية الكتاب.
