وهل يختلفُ وضعُ المسلمين في العالم عن هذه الحال اليوم؟... ألسنا في وضع الدّفاع عن صورتنا التي اهتزت بشكل كبير مع إنتشار الإرهاب الذي يلبسُ لبوساً دينياً إسلامياً للتعبير عن أزمة بنيويةٍ عميقة مع العصر ومع الآخر المُهيمن معاً؟ ألا نرى في حضور التطرف الدينيّ رغبة جارفة في التطهر من التاريخ وقد أصبح منفى للروح الخائبة؟...
إنَّ هذا التطرف يأخذ، دائماً، شكل الدفاع عن هوية مُهدّدة بفعل التحديث المتوحش الذي يدمّرُ أشكال التضامن التقليدية دون أن يُحققَ نقلة واثقة - إجتماعياً وثقافياً وسياسياً - إلى أوضاع جديدة متحررة من ثقل النوستالجيا الخلاصية.
