إنَّ مشاركة النساء في تأسيس الأوقاف وإدارتها أصبحت أكثر وضوحًا وفاعلية في هذا العصر، فلم يعد الوقف حكرًا على الرجال، بل أصبح للنساء نصيبٌ وافرٌ في هذا الشأن، وذلك يعود إلى تعدد ثروات المرأة في العصر المملوكي، وحرصها على القيم الإسلامية الرفيعة، مما جعلها تسهم إسهامًا كبيرًا في أوقاف بلاد الشام، وتعمل على إنشاء الكثير منها. وقد اختلفت دوافع الواقفات من النساء باختلاف أوقافهن، فمنهن من كان وقفها بدافعٍ ديني وحبًا للعمل الخيري، ومنهن من أوقفت في سبيل نشر العلم وإعانة طلابه، وأيضًا من النساء من أسهمت بالمساعدة في استقرار الأحوال الاجتماعية في بلاد الشام، وذلك بإنشاء الأوقاف التي تمنح أبناءه الاكتفاء المعيشي والحياة الكريمة، ومنهن كذلك من أوقفت للكسب الاقتصادي. وبناءً على ذلك تنوعت أوقاف النساء في بلاد الشام في العصر المملوكي بين أوقاف خيرية، وذرية، فكان لهذه الأوقاف المتنوعة والمختلفة الدوافع أثر واضح المعالـم في الحياة العامة، بكافة جوانبها الدينية والعلمية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية في بلاد الشام في العصر المملوكي. فكانت هذه الدراسة لأوقاف النساء في بلاد الشام وأثرها في الحياة العامة خلال العصر المملوكي (658-923هـ /1259- 1517م).
