حياة الفرد في مدينة عصرية وبالتحديد غربية هي الموضوعة التي يعالجها "محمد الحميد" في طروسه المتنوعة والجديدة "فيلم قصير لكاميرا ضائعة" والمفارق في هذه الحياة التي ترصدها كاميرا الحميد أن الأنفتاح اللا متناهي على العالم، أدى بنفس الوقت إلى المزيد من ضمور الفرد وتقوقعه على وحدته وحيرته وضياعه. بدلاً من أن يزيد في سعادته ويجعل حياته أفضل، ولكن هل من سبيل للخروج من هذا المأزق؟
يقول الكاتب: "أين أمريكا الهامبرغر والكوكا كولا والبدانة وجيل البيت. أمشي في آيوا وأظن أني في ساحة منزلنا، وكل من أزاه، حتى الطباخ الذي يقرأ الجريدة خارج المبنى لتدخين سيجارة رفع رأسه وظننت أني قرأته في كتاب. وكلما مشيت أكثر سمعت نقرة موسيقية أو عزفاً مرتجلاً لوحيد، أو كل تلك الظلال التي وجدتها في غرفتي وأنا أقرأ هيمنغواي. يصعب أن أفصل الحياة عن الورقة، عن الشاشة التي امتلأ رأسي بها..."
وهكذا يصور الحميد بكاميرته وبقلمه فيلم قصير عن الحياة في الغرب، ويكون عليك أن تستمتع بجمع خيوط الرحلة/ الحكاية بذكرياتها والوقائع، لتذهب معه في عالكه القلق والحقيقي بنفس الوقت...
