الكتاب الذي بين يديك لا يحكي قصة تاريخية أو يتعرض بالتفصيل لأحداث متلاحقة، بقدر ما يحكي قصة صعود نجم الصهيونية العالمية ودوافعها وأهدافها وما سبقها ورافقها من هجرات يهودية من كل عرق لتحقيق الحلم المنشود بإقامة الدولة العربية اليهودية على أرض فلسطين، مروراً بالحديث عن تلك التركيبة من النسيج الاجتماعي للمجتمع اليهودي الذي تضمن ألوان الطيف وتعددية النزعات الدينية والعلمانية المتصارعة التي وفدت إلى الدولة العبرية بحثاً عن أرض الميعاد التوراتية.
إلى جانب تعرض هذه الدولة إلى مراحل تغيير رافقت إقامتها بدءاً من حرب عام 1967 التي كانت تهدف إلى تحقيق الحلم الديني الكبير بإقامة دولة إسرائيل "من الفرات إلى النيل" وظهور الحركات اليمينية الاستيطانية التوسعية التي دعت إلى الاحتفاظ بأراضي ثلاث دول عربية حصاد تلك الحرب، وما رافق ذلك من تغيير اقتصادي وعسكري جعل من الدولة العبرية "القوة الأعظم في منطقة الشرق الأوسط" ومن جيشها الجيش الذي لا يقهر!، وصولاً إلى حرب عام 1973 التي كان لها أكبر الأثر في أحداث تداعيات سياسية، واقتصادية وسياسية غيرت الكثير من الخطوط والإستراتيجيات، حيث استطاعت القوات العربية التي داهمت خطوط الدفاع الإسرائيلية صبيحة العاشر من رمضان 1973 أن تقلب موازين القوى وتحجم الأحلام التوسعية التوراتية، لترتد الدولة العبرية إلى حدودها "الجيوسياسية" الأولى رغم ما قطعته على نفسها بالتوسع والامتداد لتحقيق الحلم، وذلك من خلال ما أفرزته اتفاقية كامب ديفيد ودورها في رسم حدود دولة إسرائيل من جديد، إلى ذلك التراجع الديمغرافي الذي لازمه ظهور هاجس الأمن والإحساس الظاهري بالرعب وتعددية الأحزاب السياسية الإسرائيلية وصراع الأيدلوجيات والبحث عن الاستقرار الأمني في الشرق الأوسط المنبثق منه صراع داخلي من نوع آخر حول ضرورة تقديم تنازلات للعرب والفلسطينيين للحفاظ على الهوية حتى إن كانت ضمن مربع جغرافي لا ينسجم مع أطياف الحلم التوراتي الموغل في الأتساع والامتداد.
