كانت ليلى أمّةُ تبكي بكاءً مُرّاً وقد رأتهُ مُصمّماً على الرّحيل:
- قد تحصل لك مفاجآت كثيرة يا بُنيّ.. ليس سهلاً أن يعودَ الإنسان إلى حياةٍ بعدَ أن فقدهُ جميعُ أهلهِ وقد أصبحَ في عرفهم ميّتاً.. درّبوا ذاكرتهم على نسيانه.
- لا أعتقدُ يا أمّي.. من المستحيل أن يعتقدوا ذلك ولم يعثروا على جثّتي.. إنّهم بإنتظار خبرٍ عنّي، أو ربّما بإنتظار عودتي إليهم..
- كم يُحزنني إصراركَ على مناداتي بأمّي، وأنت تتركني، وربّما بلا عودة..
- لا يمكن أن أنساكما، ستظلّانِ في ذاكرتي أباً وأمّاً عثرتُ عليهما في رحم الغيبِ وقدّما لي كلّ شيء لأحيا حياتي الطبيعيّة..".
