اعتمد المؤلف باختيار مادة هذا الكتاب من مدونات الأمثال المتداولة "كمعجم الأمثال اللبنانية الحديثة للدكتور أنيس فريحة... وكموسوعة الأمثال اللبنانية للدكتور إميل يعقوب". لكنه قدم شروحاً وتعليقات خاصة، ونصوصاً أدبية (شعرية ونثرية) متآلفة مع الأمثال، وساقها بترتيب الفبائي وأتبعها بفهارس تجمع شتاتها، وتهدي إلى مضامينها...يبقى أن نشير أن كتاب (فرائد الأمثال اللبنانية) قد احتوى على (500) مثل لبناني.
