أخبر الله سبحانه وتعالى عن مجموعة من السنن الكونية التي تحكم تصرفات العباد وسلوكياتهم، فما من أمة إلا وتمر بمجموعة من التقلبات والدورات الحضارية، ومن بين تلك الأمم أمة الإسلام، وقد تحدث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن التقلبات والدورات الحضارية التي ستمر بها هذه الأمة في حديثين صحيحين رواهما عنه حذيقة بن اليمان رضي الله عنهما، أخيراً النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم خلالهما عن هذه الأمة أن أولها خير، وأن آخر مراحلها خير، وأمة هذا حالها لا يخشى عليها الضيعة، فقد جاء في الحديث الصحيح عن أنس بن نالك رضي الله عنه أنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "مثل أمتي مثل المطر لا يدري أوله خير أم آخره".
ويقدم هذا الكتيب شرحاً وافياُ لهذين الحديثين، مع بذل الجهد في محاولة تطبيق هذه المراحل التي وردت في هذين الحديثين على مراحل تاريخنا الإسلامي.
