يحتوي هذا الكتاب على ثلاث دراسات الأولى تحدثت عن الأزمة التي أصابت الاقتصاد الرأسمالي الدولي، والثانية عالجت الوضع الاقتصادي الدولي في 1979 وبداية 1980، محاولة اختبار صحة ما إذا كان هذا الوضع يمثل بلورة الاتجاه الهيكلي المتأزم خلال السبعينات عن طريق تتبع الاتجاه العام وبلورته الموقفية (في سنة أو ما يزيد عليها) في الاقتصاد الرأسمالي الدولي بأجزائه المتقدمة والمتخلفة، والاقتصاديات العربية ومنها الاقتصاد المصري جزأ لا يتجزأ من هذه الأخيرة. أما الدراسة الثالثة فجاءت حول طبيعة العلاقة بين الاقتصاديات العربية في إطار الاقتصاد الرأسمالي الدولي وبين الجزء الأوروبي في رأس المال الدولي في بلدان السوق الأوروبية المشتركة، في تناقضاته الداخلية وتناقضه مع رأس المال الأمريكي ورأس المال الياباني.
