هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن محاولة للدراسة الشاملة للقوى المحركة الرئيسية، واتجاه في تطوير عمل الشركات الأمريكية العالمية، وخاصة التناقضات العميقة، المرافقة لها في الظروف الحالية. ومن أجل ذلك فقد أولى المؤلف اهتماماً بالغاً لتحليل نشوء العمليات الإنتاجية للشركات الأمريكية، بادئاً من لحظة ظهور المشاريع الأولى في الدول الأجنبية ومنتهياً بالتغيرات الأخيرة في الجهاز الاقتصادي. نلاحظ في الوقت الحاضر تغييراً في ظروف توظيف الرأسمال في الخارج، توتراً عاماً في تنافس المراكز الإمبريالية الثلاثة، مما سبب تغيرات ملموسة في سير وتوجيه التوسع الدولي للشركات المتعددة الجنسيات. كما تقوم هذه الدراسة العلمية على تحليل الأسباب والحقائق المعتبرة من قبل الشركات الأمريكية. التي أعيد تنظيم جهازها الاقتصادي بواسطة النشاطات الأجنبية. يعمل الكتاب على دراسة الأساليب الجديدة للمشاريع الأجنبية وإدارتها بشكل نقدي، حيث وجه المؤلف اهتماماً كبيراً غلى تأثير توع الشركات الأمريكية المتعددة الجنسيات على اقتصاد الدول الرأسمالية المتطورة والدول النامية، الذي يعتبر موضوعاً للنقاشات الحادة في الحلقات الاجتماعية السياسية في الغرب وفي الدول النامية ذاتها. إن مجال هذه الأسئلة واسع جداً ومتعدد الجوانب، لذلك علمنا قبل كل شيء على دراسة النتائج الجديدة والتناقضات المتعلقة بعمليات الشركات المتعددة الجنسيات، التي تولدت عن التغيرات العميقة في الظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية السياسية لتوظيف الرأسمال الأمريكي في عالم الاقتصاد الرأسمالي. على هذه القاعدة انكشفت التغيرات في مجموعة المشاكل المتناقضات الناتجة عن نشاطات الشركات المتعددة الجنسيات في الاقتصاد الرأسمالي واقتصاديات الدول النامية، المرتبطة ببعض الظروف والمهام الجديدة لنضال القوى التقدمية ضد انهيار الشركات المتعددة الجنسيات، في سبيل تنظيم العلاقات الاقتصادية العالمية على أسس ديمقراطية.
