جمع المصنف الشيخ أحمد بن الصديق الغماري في هذا الكتاب طرق حديث الأنين الذي نصه: "دعوه يئن فإن الأنين اسم من أسماء الله يستريح إليه العليل" وهذا الحديث تكلم عنه قديماً وحديثاً جمع من المحدثين تحدث عنهم المصنف. وقد عرض أولاً دراسة لطرق وروايات الحديث ثم عرض لحديث حذيفة وعقبة بن عامر وبعد الله بن مسعود وأبي مالك الأشعري وأبي جحيفة ثم فصّل بعد ذلك في تبيان درجة الحديث وأورد فصلاً في قاعدة تقوية الحديث الضعيف بكثرة الطرق.
