الأصل أن تؤدي الصحافة رسالتها بحرية واستقلال، وأن تستهدف تهيئة المناخ الحر لنمو المجتمع وإرتقائه وتغييره إلى الأفضل، والمفترض أيضاً أن الصحفي مستقل لا سلطان عليه في أداء عمله لغير القانون، ولا يجوز أن يكون الرأي الذي يصدر عن ا لصحفي أو المعلومات الصحيحة ينشرها سبباً للمساس به، كما لا يجوز إجباره على إفشاء مصادر معلوماته، وخلال هذا العمل البسيط نحاول فيه إستعراض ماهية حرية الإعلام وأهميتها وقوانين الإعلام أو التشريعات التي تحكم عمل الصحافة والإعلام في مصر ومخاطر مخالفتها من قبل الصحفيين والإعلاميين.
