إن الوقف له دور كبير في الحياة العامة وفي جميع وجوهها ويسهم في رص صفوف أبناء المجتمع من خلال بث روح التعاون والتكافل الإجتماعي وعلى الصعيد الإقتصادي نرى للوقف دور كبير في تنمية الموارد المالية للمجتمع إذا ما علمنا إن بعض الأوقاف لها أراضي تعادل آلاف الكيلومترات من الأراضي الصالحة للزراعة وبعضها الآخر له ميزانية تعادل ميزانية دول.
أما على الصعيد الشخصي فإنه تهذب النفوس وتقرب الفرد إلى الله عزّ وجل لأن في الوقف شرط القربة إلى الله تعالى لكن ما يلاحظ على إدارة الأوقاف أصبحت خرائب وأخرى توقف عندها الزمن ولم نلحظ عليها التطور وتوجد عوائق معرقلة كثيرة.
لذلك، لا بد من الإهتمام بالوقف وإعادة طريقة تفكيرنا تجاه أحكامه والسعي إلى إعادة الصفة المدنية والأهلية إليه وتوسيع نطاق منافعه وتشجيع الموسرين على وقف الأموال في مجالات أوسع تتعدى جانب المساجد والجوامع والمؤسسات الدينية بإضافة مجالات أخرى تتعلق بالبحث العلمي وهذه ليس جديدة على الوقف لأن بعض الأوقاف كانت على المدارس في الأزمنة الغابرة وهذه المدارس كانت تدرس العلوم الصرفة مثل الكيمياء والطب والفيزياء وغيرها ومعظم علماء العرب والمسلمين مثل ابن سينا والخوارزمي وابن الهيثم وجابر بن حيان وغيرهم كانوا من تلاميذ المدارس الدينية التي أصل إنشاؤها الأوقاف.
وفي هذا الكتاب فرصة لمعرفة بعض من الأحكام القانونية التي تنظم الوقف وكيفية إنهائه والدعاوى القضائية المتعلقة به والتي تنظرها المحاكم.
