لقد طرح السيد الصدر عنوان "مجتمعنا" في كتابيه الكبيرين والتأسيسيين "فلسفتنا" و"اقتصادنا" وأشار الى حملة مما ينبغي بحثه في أطروحة "مجتمعنا" وجاهد بفكره وقلمه ودمه من أجل إيجاد "مجتمعنا" المجتمع الاسلامي الرائد وساهم في إرساء دعائم هذا المجتمع في تنظيره الرائع في كتابيه القرآنيين "المدرسة القرآنية" و"الإسلام يقود الحياة" وكان إسهامه فريداً من نوعه لما تميز به من قدرة على استخراج معالم وأبعاد النظرية الاجتماعية من القرآن الكريم في تفسيرة الموضوعي الذي ربط فيه بين موضوعي "سنن التاريخ" و"عناصر المجتمع" بشكل فريد ومتميز بعد تميز طرحه للسنن الاجتماعية التاريخية ولعناصر المجتمع الإنساني كما تميز في ربطه بين "النظرية الاجتماعية" المكتشفة من القرآن الكريم و"النظام الاجتماعي الإسلامي" الذي جاء به الإسلام وثبّت أسسه وخطوطه العريضة وجملة مهمة من تفاصيله في القرآن الكريم.
لقد طرح هذا العنوان الذي طالما تشوّقت اليه العقول والقلوب بعد أن رأت إنجازي الشهيد الصدر المميزين "فلسفتنا" و"اقتصادنا". ولكن لم تشأ الظروف والفرص والمقادير أن يكتب الشهيد الصدر بقلمه المبارك "مجتمعنا" المميز. ومن هنا جاءت فكرة المؤلف في تتبع نصوص الشهيد الصدر في كتبه ومحاضراته فيما يخصّ "مجتمعنا" من بحوث وإشارات ربما تستطيع أن تشكل الهيكل العام والخطوط العريضة القرآنية للنظرية الاجتماعية الإسلامية والنظام الاجتماعي الإسلامي الذي صرح بأنه يشكّل البناء الفوقي للنظرية ويعتمد على نظرية اجتماعية دقيقة ومهمة جداً في مدرسته القرآنية.
وعليه، جاء هذا العمل الذي يأمل المؤلف أن يغني الفرد المسلم وينتفع به.
