1- التربية الإيمانية/وتشمل ترويض النفس إيمانياً انطلاقًا من القلب المؤمن بوصفه حجر الأساس.
2- التربية العقلية/ويدخل فيها القراءة والثقافة بشكل عام.
3- التربية الاجتماعية/ومنها تكوين العلاقات الاجتماعية الناجحة ،وهنا استثني أصحاب الشخصيات الانطوائية فلا يلزمهم هذا الركن.
4- التربية الجسدية/وتشمل العناية بالغذاء الجيد، وممارسة الرياضة، والكساء الجيد، والمسكن الجيد ، والمركب المريح ، وغيره مما يخص الجسم ويتعلق به.
5- التربية العاطفية/ويدخل فيها النجاح في إظهار المشاعر في مواطنها بالشكل المطلوب.
6- التربية الترويحية/وهي فترات استراحة بين بقية الأركان، (يخطئ من يظن أنها غير ضرورية) .
7- التربية السلوكية/ومنها الأخلاق الحسنة في الظاهر، وترويض النفس سلوكياً في الباطن.
وأرى أن ترويض النفس سلوكياً يدخل في أغلب -إن لم يكن كل- الأركان سالفة الذكر؛ فالمرء مثلاً عندما يريد القراءة (تربية ثقافية) يحتاج ابتداءً إلى ترويض نفسه سلوكياً ليحتمل مشقة البحث عن المعلومة إلى أن يصل إلى درجة أن تكون القراءة شيئًا سهلاً وجميلاً بالنسبة إليه.
