معلوم أن السحر من الموضوعات التي شغل بها الناس قديماً وحديثاً، وكثر كلامهم حوله، وذهبوا فيه مذاهب شتى.. فمن مثبت له بجملته، وشتى فروعه، ومختلف أنواعه.. ومن ناف له بجملته وتفصيلاته. ومن مفصل للقول فيه، معدد لأنواعه، مثبت لبعضها، وناف البعض الآخر. وقد رتب العلماء على تعاطي السحر وتعلمه وتعليمه أحكاماً.. كما بينوا ما يترتب على ذلك من عقوبة.
وكثر الكلام والجدل حول حديث سحر اليهود للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، مع أنه حديث ثابت عند أهل العلم، فقد زعم الجصاص أنه من وضع الملحدين! وادعى الأصم أنه متروك ومخالف لنص القرآن! وذكر القاسمي أنه لا غرابة في ألا يقبل هذا الخبر، وإن كان مخرجاً في الصحاح! ومضى ينقل الشبه المتهافتة! إلى غير ذلك مما قاله الشيخ محمد عبده! والشيخ محمد أبو زهرة!
ومن ثم كانت هذه الدراسة ضرورية، وفق أًصول التحديث رواية ودراية، وإن كان يعتروها الكثير من الصعاب، ويتراجع أمامها كثير من الدارسين، لمكانة هؤلاء الذين تكلموا في هذا الحديث الصحيح من جهة، ولأن الكثيرين يجعلون العقل حاكماً على النقل، يقبل منه ما يقبله، ويرد ما يرده، من جهة ثانية.
وهكذا جاءت هذه الدراسة لتلقي الضوء على حديث السحر فتحدثت عن مفهوم السحر، مادة السحر وأنواعه وتأثيره، من ثم قامت بإلقاء الضوء على آراء الفقهاء حول هذا الموضوع. بعد ذلك توقفت الدراسة عند غريب ألفاظ حديث السحر وشرحت زعم الجصاص أن الحديث من وضع الملحدين، ودعوى الأصم أنه متروك ومخالف لنص القرآن، كما وتوقفت عند دعوى الشيخ محمد أبو زهرة أن الرواية قد ثبت بطلانها، وعند ثبوت الحديث عند أهل العلم...
وفي مرحلة لاحقة تحدث الكتاب عن علاج السحر فذكر السور التي تساعد في العلاج من السحر، والرقي التي يمكن اعتمادها للتخلص من السحر، كما وشرح مسألة جواز تعلم السحر وتعليمه.
