إن عالم اليوم يسير، على ما يبدو، نحو حرب عالمية ثالثة إن لم ننتبه إلى ذلك، والدليل هو سباق التسلح المخيف، الذي يذكّرنا بسباق التسلح الذي سبق الحرب العالمية الثانية، وبالتوجه الدولي في حل المشكلات عن طريق الحروب، متجاوزين كل القيم والأعراف الدبلوماسية في حل المشكلات الدولية.
عالمنا اليوم فيه العديد من الأمثلة لحالات الصراع، والمتتبع للشأن الدولي يجد أن العالم يزداد تعقيداً ودموية، وذلك للعديد من الأسباب الإقتصادية والثقافية والدينية والأيديولوجية والسياسية وغيرها من الأسباب.
ونحن، في هذه الظروف الدولية الملأى بالصراعات، نخشى، أن نسير في طريق تقودنا إلى كارثة محققة، ومأساة ستُمنى بها البشرية.
ولا بد لنا في النهاية من الإقرار بأن الأحداث الدولية تثبت في كل مرة أن القوة هي المتحكم الرئيس في سير العلاقات الدولية، وما نشاهده اليوم على صعيد التحالفات والتكتلات الجديدة بين دول الإتحاد الأوروبي من جهة، وبين الدول الآسيوية وروسيا الإتحادية من جهة أخرى، ما هو إلا نظام جديد من أنظمة النظام العالمي قد يتبلور قريباً ليصبح نظاماً دولياً تعددياً.
