إن الحديث عن التوعية الاجتماعية بأبعادها المختلفة يتطلب منا جميعا جهودا كبيرة وجبارة فالتوعية الاجتماعية هي: العملية التي تشير إلى إكساب الفرد وعياً حول أمر ما أو أمور بعينها ، وتبصيره بالجوانب المختلفة المحيطة بها، ومن هذا المنطق فإن التوعية تهدف في بؤرة اهتمامها إلى التوجيه والإرشاد للتزود بالمعرفة وإكساب واكتساب الخبرة ، وهذا الامر يعني تظافر جهود كبيرة لتحقيقه، تبدأ من الاسرة ثم العائلة الكبيرة، ثم الاصدقاء، والمدرسة، ودور العبادة،... انتهاءا بوسائل الاعلام ومدى دورها في احداث هذه التوعية لا سيما في ظل الانفتاح المعلوماتي الكبير الذي نحياه.
وفي ظل الفجوة المعلوماتية والتدفق الاعلامي الذي يبث الى الوطن العربي، أثار هذا التدفق في نشر العديد من المفاهيم والقيم التي لا تتماشى في جلها مع مفاهيمنا وقيمنا، فالمتابع للفضائيات العربية مثلا يجد أننا أمام حالة من التسابق في بث دراما غير عربية، ممتلئة بالموروثات الثقافية الاجنبية التي لا تتماشي مع عاداتنا وموروثنا العربي، وكذلك الأمر بالنسبة للدراما العربية المحلية نجد أنها منتجة للاستهلاك المحلي وتهدف بالدرجة الأولى إلى تحقيق الربح بعيدا عن ترسيخ ثقافتنا العربية الايجابية، وبعيدة كل البعد عن مفاهيم التوعية الاجتماعية وتعزيز القيم الايجابية، كما أنها تحتوي على العديد من القيم السلبية وتعكس صورة مشوهة عن العالم العربي بمختلف شرائحه ومشاربه.
