على الرغم من تعدد محاور فكر "ارندت" إلا أنها عرفت باعتبارها فيلسوفة سياسية، فلقد خلقت من محاور فكرها المتعدد أدوات لخدمة فكرها السياسي، الذي يعتبر وليداً لظروف عصرها، وبعبارة أخرى انعكاساً للأحداث السياسية التي شهدها القرن العشرون، الذي يعتبر بدون أدنى شك قرناً مليئاً بالأحداث والصراعات السياسية ذات الطابع الخاص، إلى الذي يمكن القول معه بأنه قن الصراع بين الأضداد.
وعلى الرغم من تعدد محاور فكر "ارندت" السياسي إلا أن الحرية مثلت قلب فكرها السياسي. ففي معظم فكرها السياسي كانت معبرة عن الحرية بصورة أو بأخرى، وقد اهتم هذا البحث بدراسة مشكلة الحرية في فبسفة "حنا ارندت" السياسي، ومن ثم يحاول الإجابة عن عدة تساؤلات: أولاً: ما هي سمات الحرية، وأهم أبعادها عند "ارندت"؟، ثانياً: ما هي الحرية السياسية، وما هي متطلباتها عندها؟، ثالثاً: ما هي طبيعة ذلك الميدان الذي يتسنى لنا فيه ممارسة الحرية عندها؟، رابعاً: ما هي المعوقات التي تحول بيننا وبين هذه الحرية؟ وما هي النتائ المترتبة على فقداننا للحرية عندنا؟، خامساً: ما هي طبيعة العلاقة بين الحرية والقانون عندها؟، سادساً: ما هي طبيعة العلاقة بين الحرية والضرورة عندها؟، وللإجابة عن هذه التساؤلات قسم هذا البحث إلى ستة فصول، يحوي كل منها إجابة عن تساؤل من هذه التساؤلات . الفصل الأول: سمات الحرية واهم أبعادها عند "ارندت"، الفصل الثاني: الحرية السياسية: مفهومها ومتطلباتها، الفصل الثالث: الحرية السياسية والعالم السياسي، الفصل الرابع: معوقات الحرية والنتائج المترتبة على فقدانها، الفصل الخامس: الحرية والقانون، الفصل السادس: الحرية والضرورة.
