لكل شيء في الكون مرجع وأساس، يرجع ويفزع إليه، فإذا كان مرجع المجتمع ومفزعه إلى الأسرة بكونها الأساس والأصل، وكونها النواة الأولى في بناءه، إذ بصلاحها يكون المجتمع صالحاً، وبإنحلالها يكون كذلك، لذا لمكانة الأسرة وأهميتها أردنا الخوض في تنظيمات الأسرة في عصر الجاهلية، مبينين دورها في خلق المجتمع قبل ظهور الإسلام، فلأجل هذا كله كان عنوان هذا الكتاب موسوماً بعنوان: (البعد الحضاري والإجتماعي عند العرب قبل الإسلام "الأسرة" دراسة تحليلية)، ولا يخفى أن مكتبة التاريخ تضم كنوزاً ثمينة، ومعادن نفيسة، وإن على من أراد إستخراج سبائكها تخليصها من التراث العالق بها، ومن رام قطف زهر حدائقها أن يحذر أشواكها... "أترى الشوك في الورود وتعمى... أن ترى فوقه الندى إكليلا؟"...
فكان التقسيم لمادته العلمية استلزم أن يكون على شكل فصول، وقد وقع في مقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة ومصادر البحث ومراجعه التي تم الإعتماد عليها، في رسم صورة مشرقة للأسرة في عصر ما قبل الإسلام، وكان تقسيم الفصول على الوجه الآتي: ضمنت في الفصل الأول: تعريف الأسرة كونها المحور الأساس الذي يدور عليه رحى البحث، ثم الألفاظ التي لها بصلة بمسمى الأسرة، كالأهل والآل والعترة، وكان من نصيب الفصل الثاني: المكونات للأسرة في عرب ما قبل الإسلام، وأدرجت في الفصل الثالث: نظام الزواج عند العرب الجاهليين مبيننا أقسامه آنذاك، بقي الفصل الرابع فكان حظه: العادات في عرب ما قبل الإسلام، مقسماً إياها إلى عادات إيجابية، وأخرى سلبية، ثم ختمت هذه الدراسة بخاتمة بينت فيها أهم ما توصلت إليه فيما يتعلق بالأسرة في عرب ما قبل الإسلام.
