إن الحديث عن مدينة كار - توكلتي - ننورتا يُعدّ من الأمور المهمة والشيقة لما لها من تاريخٍ عريقٍ منذُ العصر الآشوري الوسيط، وإلى يومنا هذا، كونها مَعلماً آثارياً مهماً، بناها الملك توكلتي - ننورتا الأول (1244-1208ق.م) فأنشأ فيها القصور والمعابد وزقورة، وقام بإحاطة المدينة بأسوار ذات أبراج، وعُثر فيها على نصوص مسمارية ملكية كانت من أروع النصوص المصنوعة من المعادن وأنفسها كالذهب والفضة والنحاس، ووجدت فيها الأختام كختم الملك توكلتي - ننوتا، وقام هذا الملك بزخرفة جدرانها بزخارف جصّيّة نباتية وحيوانية. عُملت هذه الزخارف من الجصّ، وبمختلف الألوان، كما عُثر فيها على كثير من الفخّاريات وعدد من قبور العامة.
