الأديان نص سماوي نظري، وقودها في العبادات هي العقائد، وقد تطغى العقائد على النص الديني أحياناً، والعقيدة حاجة فطرية مخلوقة في لا شعور البشر، ومتى ما فرغ اللاشعور من العقيدة فالإنسان يسعى إلى ملئه من عقائد مصطنعة أو مستوردة... الحسين بإستشهاده صنع عقيدة سواء أكان ذلك ضمن خطة إلهية موضوعة سلفاً أم صنعتها شخصية ذلك القائد.
فكانت حركة تلك العقيدة تتخذ أشكال متنوعة على مدى القرون المنصرمة سياسيّة أحياناً، أم إجتماعية أم ثورية أم فكرية، وذلك حسب طبيعة الظرف... وتعريف العقيدة ينطلق من إيمان بدون حاجة إلى برهان... وبهذا صار للعقيدة الحسينية محل خاص في العقل (اللاشعوري) تتحرك به المجتمعات وتثور وتتطور وتتقاتل وتتعايش وما إلى غيرها.
بعتد التغيير في عام 2003، برزت العقيدة الحسينية كفاعل كبير فرض على السياسيين طلب الغفران من الجهات الدينية في إظهار صلتهم بالدين... وهذه الحالة هي التي جعلت من قدرة تلك العقيدة أن تتحول إلى قوة مستقبلية مُغيّرة سواء بحرب أم بسلم أم بثقافة... الجماهير دوماً لا تمتلك حالة عقلية.
بل تُسيّرها المشاعر والعواطف والتلقين، ثم العقل الديني، وهو ما فرض عليّ في هذا الكتاب أن أوضح مسيرة حياة تلك العقيدة وفعلها ووسيطها وهدفها المستقبلي، على المستوى السياسي والديني للمجتمع الشيعي بالعموم وللعراقي بالخصوص.
