يشكل الدين الإسلامي مادة خصبة، ينهل منها الكتّاب والدعاة بهدف تقويم حياة الإنسان المسلم، والعمل على تهذيب النفس بحيث ينتج عن هذه العملية تقويم وإصلاح لأخلاق المسلم في معاملاته خاصة، والناس عامة، فتكون الغاية وجود إنسان مسلم يحسن الظن والعفو والصفح والشكر والعرفان، صاحب مروءة ووفاء وإيثار اتجاه إخوانه وأصحابه في الدين، وهذا محله مما تشتمل عليه مكارم الأخلاق.
ولهذه الغاية يضع الدكتور جاسر جوهر ذهب الحديثي كتابه المعنون (غذاء النفوس من العبر والدروس) يقدم فيه نصائح للآباء والأبناء وللسائرين على طريق الحق والعدل والطاعة.
يتألف الكتاب من ستة فصول يضم كل فصل منها عدداً من المواضيع المتقاربة في المعنى والغاية، فلقد تضمن الفصل الأول ما يدور حول العقيدة الصحيحة والتمسك بها والثبات عليها، والإلتزام بما تفرضه على معتنقها والمجاهد من أجلها، فيما تضمن الفصل الثاني بعض ما تميز به العرب في الفصاحة والخطابة والوصايا. أما الفصل الثالث فقد بيّن خلاله المؤلف أهمية العقل وفضله في أمور الحياة وتحمّل المسؤولية في تحقيق العدل والمساواة والإصلاح بين الناس بصبر وحلم وافر وثبات على الحق. وأما الفصل الرابع فتناول ذكراً لجملة من الفضائل المتأصلة في النفوس والتي يتميز بها أصحابها على غيرهم كالكرم والجوار وغنى النفس وعلو الهمة والإيثار والوفاء للصحبة ورضاء الناس بما يرضي الله. وأما الفصل الخامس فقد ذكر فيه المؤلف مقتطفات من بعض أغراض الشعر كالوصف والمدح والحماسة والرثاء. وفي الفصل السادس والأخير أدعية مناسبة مناسبة للمواقف والظروف وأقوالاً نادرة وحكماً وأمثالاً ومواعظاً ترشد القارئ وتوضح له الطريق لبلوغ نعيم الآخرة ...
