الرواية من تأليف بلايز مينيفسكي، وهو روائي مقدوني شهير، وُلِدَ عام 1961، يكتب الرواية، والمسرح، والسيناريو. يعمل الآن محررًا بقسم النشر بمكتبة جامعة ""القديس كليمنت أوريدسكي"" الوطنية بسكوبيه عاصمة مقدونيا. قاده أدبه للفوز بأشهر الجوائز المرموقة. وأعماله التي تختلف في النوع الأدبي تُرجمت إلى العديد من اللغات، ومن أشهر أعماله رواية ""كان يجب أن نلتقط صورة لنا قبل أن نبدأ في كره بعض""، و""قصة عن الطرف الثالث""، وهذه الرواية ""القنَّاص"".
فازت ""القنَّأص"" عام 2007 بجائزة ""ستيل بوبوف"" Stale Popov لأفضل رواية والتي تقدمها جمعية الكتّاب المقدونية، وجائزة ""رواية العام"" التي تقدمها جريدة UtrinskiVensik، وجائزة ""الثالث عشر من نوفمبر"" التي تقدمها مدينة سكوبيه عام 2008.
