- اليوم، أصبح الإنسان في هذا العالم العربي يحلم بالديمقراطية ومباهجها، بل ويحاول - بتَدابير حالمة! - إستنباتها في الواقع؛ بوصفها أرقى تجلّيات الرؤى السياسية التي رافقت مسيرة تطوّر إنسان العصر الحديث، بل لقد أصبح ينظر إليها كثير من أبناء هذا العالم العربي المحروم من أبجدياتها؛ كما ينظر إليها الغربي، بوصفها أفقاً مُلهماً، تتوق إليه كل خطابات الحرية، ومعظم مسيرات التحرر.
لكن، وفي كل الأحوال، هذا أن الإنسان العربي الذي برّحَت به أشواق الحرية، لا يعي أبعاد ما يتوق إليه، فهو اليوم يُنادي بالتحرر، ويجأر مطالباً بالديمقراطية، وفي الوقت نفسه يؤكد على الأدبيات العقائدية التي تُكفّر - أو على الأقل - تُحرّم الديمقراطية، يهتف بمفردات حقوقية مصدرها التراث الحداثي؛ فيما هو غارق في مستنقع وَعْي سلفي يشده إلى الرؤى الإستعبادية والإستبدادية، هو يتلهّف على مخرجات التراث التنويري، ولكنه لا يني يُهاجم الثقافة التنويرية بوصفها تغريباً، وغزوا فكرياً، وتَوْطِئة للكفر والإلحاد!...
العربي تتجاذبه قوتان: قوة داخلية، تنبع من تراثة، وهي تشده إلى تعظيم الطغاة، وتقديس الطغيان، والإعجاب البطش، وإزدراء الرحمة والتسامح بوصفهما خورا / ضعفا؛ متماهياً مع قول أسلافه من العرب الأوائل: "رهبوت خير من رحموت"، أي أن تكون ظالماً مرهوباً خير من أن تكون مظلوماً مرحوماً، وثمة قوة أخرى خارجية تجذبه بشكل أو آخر إليها، قوة صدرها الغرب أساساً، ولكنها بدأت تعم العالم أجمع، إنها قوة مسيرة التطور / التحرر المتعولمة في إتجاه الديمقراطية، العالم يتوجّه - من حيث هو يتقدم - ليكون ديمقراطياً أكثر فأكثر.
انتفضت الجماهير العربية إنتفاضتها الكبرى؛ فيما كان يبدو - لأول وهلة - أنها "إنتفاضة ديمقراطية"، تلك التي يحلو لكثيرين تسميتها بــ (ثورة الربيع العربي)، فلم تتمخض عن تحقيق شيء من وعود الديمقراطية، تلك الوعود الحالمة التي أسقط بها عَرّابو الشعارات أكثر من نظام عربي.
لقد أرادوها - وأردناها لهم بقلوبنا وأقلامنا - ديمقراطية، وهتفنا لها بكل ما في الروح من شبق الحياة؛ فلم ينبلج الصباح الموعود؛ لأن التاريخ / التراث، العقل المضمر، كان أقوى وأعتى وأقسى؛ فضلاً عن الواقع الصلب العنيد.
