في هذا الكتاب مجموعة حوارات، تتمحور حول قضايا تنويرية ساخنة، كانت محل جدل نظري وعملي خلال العشرين سنة الماضية، وقد استغرقت مني وقتاً وجهداً، إذ لم أكن أتعاطى مع أي حوار معي على أنه مجرد حديث عابر، أو هامشي على متن نصوصي الأولى، بل تعاملت معه كنص إضافي مُحَايثٍ لمجمل كتاباتي.
ولا يخفى لما لهذه الحوارات من مسارات مفاجئة تتجاوز أفق التوقع، إذ يعتمد الحوار على التداعي الحر أو شبه الحر، من حيث إن جواب السؤال غير المتوقّع يخلق - بدوره - سؤالاً غير متوقع؛ وهذا الأخير يخلق جواباً يتضمن جملة من الأسئلة المقترحة، وتستمر العملية إلى أن ينتهي الفضاء المكاني أو الزماني للحوار.
قد يكون الحوار أكثر تشويقاً وإمتاعاً، بل غالباً ما يكون كذلك، لا لكونه مباشراً وسهلاً ومُحدّداً ومشخّصاً فحسب، وإنما - أيضاً - لكونه يكشف كواليس كثيرة من الأفكار المجردة ذات المنحى الموضوعي، التي وردت في مقالات أو كُتُبِ أو بحوثِ صاحبِ الحوار، ولم يكن السياق يحتمل تضمين ما تخفيه الكواليس أو حتى الإشارة إليها من بعيد.
ولا شك أن الأجوبة محكومة بالأسئلة على أكثر من مستوى، فهي رغم أنها - كنصوص - من صميم كلامي على سبيل الحصر والإحتكار، إلا انها "قول على قول"، أي ليس الجواب حرّاً تماماً ليقول ما تريد.
الحوار ليس مقولة أصلية تماماً لصاحب الحوار / أنا، كما هو حالي في المقال والكتاب، بل هو نص مشترك إلى حد ما، وما لم يؤخذ هذا في الإعتبار، فسيُحَمِّل القارئُ المؤلفَ كثيراً من عِلل الأسئلة وأعطابها، بل وسذاجتها في بعض الأحيان.
