تنشأ خلال ذلك علاقة رومانسية غير متوقعة بينها وبين شابّ أجنبيّ وسيم (العازب الأمريكي) فتضطر (تيلو، عاشقة التوابل) في النهاية إلى الإختيار بين الحياة الروحية الخالدة التي كرستها لخدمة أبناء جلدتها بالإستعانة بالتوابل وبين متطلبات الحياة العصرية الحسية ورغبتها هي كإنسان يحق له الحب والتجربة.
